The Supreme Court has appointed senior lawyer Amarandra Sharan as Amicus Curiae or impartial adviser, to examine whether there is scope for re-investigating Mahatma Gandhi's assassination in 1948. The court is hearing a petition which seeks further investigation, alleging "one of the biggest cover-ups in history."
