The Minority Affairs ministry has devised a scheme to restore' the Parsi population in country, which apparently has been seen to be dwindling because of little interest in marriage among the eligible bachelors.

A Parsi trust today broke age-old traditions and informed the Supreme Court that it would allow a Parsi woman and her sisters, who have married outside the community, to visit the 'Tower of Silence' and attend prayers in the event of the death of their parents.

The Supreme Court on Friday sought the Central government's response on a plea by a Parsi woman challenging the Parsi Marriage and Divorce Act that allows local Parsi community to act as jury in the grant of divorce to an estranged couple.
