External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday defended the NDA government's decision in 2016 to allow a Pakistani probe team including officials from spy agency ISI to visit the Pathankot air force base to probe a terror attack.

A high alert has been sounded in Punjab's Pathankot district after a suspicious bag was found last evening. As soon as the bag containing three Army uniforms was spotted near the Mamoon Army Cantonment Base, the area was cordoned off. Army jawans, police teams and SWAT commandoes have launched a joint operation.

India has been asked to send the name of its nominee for inclusion in a global team to assist a United Nations committee which decides on banning terror outfits and their leaders.

India today said Pakistan has not refused to allow an NIA team to visit that country to probe the Pathankot airbase attack case and just sought "more time" even as it made it clear that talks and terror cannot go hand-in-hand.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today came down heavily on Pakistan saying if the neighbouring country does not allow an NIA team to visit there for probe into the attack on the Pathankot airbase, it would be a "betrayal" to India.
