A railway police official in Patna has been sent to lines after a video in which an elderly ticket collector tearfully accused him of assault on board a train went viral on social media.

Thousands of farmers tried to march towards the governor's house Raj Bhavan in Patna on Tuesday, calling for the central government's new agricultural laws to be scrapped, that set up a confrontation with the police in line with massive demonstrations in several parts of the country.

As many as 175 constables were dismissed from service by the Bihar Government in an unprecedented move on Sunday, two days after clashes erupted at the Patna Police Lines over the death of an ailing policewoman. Barring eight, all of them were trainees recently inducted into the police force.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amrit Raj today shunted four Station House Officers (SHOs) to line duty for their failure to contain crime and transferred another 11 SHOs in order to spruce up law and machinery in Bihar's Patna district.
