The PF interest rate is decided every year by EPFO’s Central Board of Trustees (CBT) in consultation with the Ministry of Finance.

Under the PF schemes, the employees contribute a small amount of their monthly income, which turns into a retirement corpus.

Provident Fund Update: The EPFO regularly updates the subscribers about the monthly deposits into their PF accounts through SMS alerts.

Provident Fund (PF) data of about 28 crore Indians was found to have been leaked by hackers earlier this month. A cybersecurity researcher from Ukraine, Bob Diachenko, made the discovery on August 2 and said that details such as UANs, names, marital status, Aadhaar details, gender, and bank account details were exposed online.

The UAN is usually printed on the payslip; however, if the employer has not shared the 12-digit code with you, it can be generated online.

An individual who starts working at the age of 21 years with a basic monthly salary and DA (Dearness Allowance) of Rs 25,000 can retire with over Rs 1 crore from his regular contributions to the EPF investment.

Salaried individuals receive salaries periodically from their employer, mostly on a particular date.

Employees can withdraw their PF online quite easily
