Nineteen people were killed and 21 others injured when a passenger bus lost control and plunged off a cliff in the central Philippines, police said Wednesday.

A truck carrying hog feed smashed into the rear of a passenger bus on a remote downhill provincial road in the northern Philippines early Saturday, setting off a series of wrecks that left at least 20 people dead and injured 44 others, police said.

Police in the northern Philippines said that an overloaded minibus with passengers riding on the rooftop has plunged into a 150-meter (500-foot) deep ravine. Eleven people are dead and another 10 injured.Provincial Police Chief William Bequeno said that the vehicle lost control on Sunday while negotiating a rough patch of a mountain road.
