Kerala's LDF government has opposed Wednesday's Cabinet decision to lease out the Thiruvananthapuram airport to a private company for 50 years, saying it was against "the assurance given during a personal meeting with PM in New Delhi" and sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention.

The legal age for drinking will now be 23 years instead of 21 years, the Kerala government has said. The Left-led government of Pinari Vijayan has passed an Ordinance, raising the age bar for drinking to curb the problem of alcoholism in the state, which has been sent to the Governor P Sathasivam for clearance.

A police team visited the home of a Kerala teen this morning after his family alleged that he killed himself because of the online Blue Whale game which challenges its players to commit suicide. Manoj C Manu, 16, hung himself at his house in Vilapilasala near the state capital of Thiruvananthapuram on July 26.

The Kerala government today said any "hindrance" to free and fearless media activities will not be allowed, days after media personnel were prevented by a section of lawyers from covering the High Court proceedings.
