Pipeline Mishap

A major underground leakage of CNG was today reported in Worli area of South Mumbai. The leakage was stopped timely averting a mishap, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) said.

State gas utility GAIL on Sunday suspended two senior company officials of its Andhra Pradesh office after a fire caused by a possible leakage in an underground gas pipeline killed 19 persons and injured several others.

One person died and six other employees of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation in Neyveli sustained burns after the steam pipeline exploded due to heavy pressure today, company sources said.

Timely action averted a major mishap after a pipeline that supplies cooking gas to over 1,400 households got damaged during some road excavation work and started leaking in the populated Banganga area in Indore, an official said.
