The Delhi University on Thursday contended before the Delhi High Court that the RTI Act has been reduced to a "joke" with queries seeking records of all students who had passed BA examination in 1978, including that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Central Information Commission has directed Delhi University to allow inspection of records related to all the students who had passed BA degree in 1978, the year in which, according to the University, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also cleared the examination.

Downplaying allegations of glaring discrepancies, Delhi University today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BA degree as circulated by BJP is "authentic" and it has all the relevant records relating to his graduation while terming as "minor error" mention of 1979 in his degree when he passed out a year earlier.

A day after Aam Aadmi Party accused Delhi University of "authenticating" Prime Minister Narendra Modi's degree due to pressure from the Centre ,the varsity today said that it has not been influenced by "any political pressure" and asserted that it is acting in accordance with the law.

Keeping up its offensive, an AAP delegation today met Delhi University Vice Chancellor demanding that they be allowed to examine records of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BA degree but they had to return empty handed.
