Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday said that he respects the Punjab government's offer to celebrate 550th anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev at Sultanpur Lodhi under the aegis of the Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of Sikhism.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Tuesday asked the Centre to cut down the 30-day notice period for devotees to apply online for visiting the historic Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara during the 550th Prakash Purb celebrations.

Accepting Chief Minister Amarinder Singh's request for special trains for Sultanpur Lodhi to meet the rush of pilgrims expected there during the 550th Prakash Purb celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev, the Ministry of Railways has decided to run 14 special intra-state and long distance inter-state trains connecting the historic town from November 1.

On the occasion of Sri Guru Granth Sahib first Prakash Purb celebrations, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government will complete the work on the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor within the time frame.
