The ruling BJD or Biju Janata Dal in Odisha has no hesitation in tying up with the Congress in the Assembly elections to check "communal" forces in the state, the party's vice president Damodar Rout has said.

Normal life was crippled in most parts of Odisha today due to a dawn-to-dusk bandh called by Congress protesting the construction of dams on the upstream of the Mahanadi river in Chhattisgarh and demanded immediate intervention by the Centre to halt these projects.

Expressing concern over the spate of farmers' suicides allegedly due to debt burden, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) today announced to hold 'Chasi Bachho' (save farmer) agitation in all the 314 blocks in the state on November 6.

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi will lead a 'Save Farmer March' in Bargarh district during his two-day visit to Odisha to highlight alleged failure of both the Centre and BJD regime in the state in mitigating the plight of peasants.
