Uttarakhand: Indian Air Force helicopter crashes; twelve bodies found

An Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter on a rescue mission crashed in Uttarakhand this evening. Government sources say 20 people were on board and there are no survivors. But twelve bodies have been found. Air Force officials have identified five crew members and three civilians.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was sanctioned a financial package of Rs 12,000 crore today by the centre. The first of four installments of Rs 3,000 crore will be paid to his state over the next few months, ahead of the national election.

The Kalaignar TV, promoted by the family of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, had allegedly received Rs 52 crore from 18 Kolakata-based firms which are suspected to be "fictitious" and a probe is underway to ascertain their antecedents, the Joint Parliamentary Committee was told today.

The rains seem to be here finally. Its been raining this evening across many parts of the city. Rains on Friday evening brought respite to the national capital which has been reeling under high temperatures. The Met department had predicted rain and thundershowers over the weekend.
