A young man arrested this morning in murder of an engineering student in Lucknow on Thursday is son of a former BSP MLA, government sources have said. The murder of Prashant Singh, 23, on Thursday was caught on security cameras in an apartment complex.

An engineering student was stabbed to death during the day on Thursdayat Lucknow's posh Gomti Nagar residential area. The student, identified as 23-year-old Prashant Singh, had reportedly gone to meet an acquaintance in an apartment complex in the area when a group of 10 to 12 men, who had been waiting for him, stabbed him in the chest.

A Special Investigation Team of the Uttar Pradesh police that was probing an incident of mob violence in western Uttar Pradesh 's Bulandshahr and the subsequent killing of a police inspector has filed a chargesheet in the case before a local court.
