The Supreme court on Monday declined a plea by the mother of late actress Pratyusha Banerjee seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail of Rahul Raj Singh, accused of abetment to suicide of the "Balika Vadhu" star.

Mother of 24-year-old TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee, who was found dead at her residence in Mumbai in mysterious circumstances, today moved the Supreme Court seeking to cancel anticipatory bail granted by the Bombay High Court to actor-producer Rahul Raj Singh accused of abetting her suicide.

The Bombay High Court today turned down the plea of the actress Pratyusha Banerjee's mother Shoma Banerjee plea for transfer of the case to the Crime Branch.

The web of allegations behind TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee's death intensified further as her parents wrote to the CM alleging that the 25-year-old did not commit suicide but was murdered by her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh. They also asked that the case be handed over to the Crime Branch to ensure justice for their daughter.

Four days after TV actor Pratyusha Banerjee was found dead at her home in Mumbai, her boyfriend, Rahul Raj Singh, has been charged by the police with abetting her suicide. Mr Singh, a TV producer, has been in hospital since Sunday after complaining of chest pains.

Actor-politician Hema Malini is being criticized as insensitive for her tweets on what she calls "senseless suicides".

Police will also be speaking to friends of the couple. A group of 10 colleagues of Pratyusha have offered to reveal details which might help the police's investigation

"Though Rahul has been shifted to general ward, his condition is still not proper as he is in trauma," Rahul Raj Singh's lawyer said

"I have submitted a list of 10 people to the Bangur Nagar Police Station today (Monday) and they are likely to be called for giving their versions tomorrow (Tuesday)," Ms Brahmabhatt told IANS
