Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand have come out in support of Tamil Nadu's stance that whenever the Central government privatises an airport in a state, the state government should get a share in the revenue.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today attacked the government over reports that it plans to sell its residual stake in the already privatised Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad airports, alleging that such privatisation hurts the public and benefits only a handful of cronies.

The government on Thursday announced that a maximum of 10 airports will be privatised in the third round of airport privatisation. "In the third round (of airport privatisation) six to 10 airports are going to be privatised," Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) Secretary Pradeep Singh Kharola said.

The central government in February 2019 privatised six major airports of the country, namely, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, and Guwahati. After a competitive bidding process, the Adani group won the rights to run all of them for 50 years.
