Protection Of Children Against Sexual Offences Bill

A bill seeking to provide death penalty for aggravated sexual assault on children and greater punishments for other crimes against minors was approved by Parliament, after it was passed by the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

Union Minister Smriti Irani today introduced a bill in the Rajya Sabha to amend the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act that aims to make punishments more stringent and even include death penalty for offenders involved in sexual crimes against minors.

Parliament on Tuesday approved a bill to protect children below 18 from sexual abuse, set up special courts for speedy trial of cases against them and provide stringent punishment extending up to life term for offenders.
