• Parliament session in February to pass Vote on Account

  With Lok Sabha elections due in April-May, government will hold a session of Parliament in the first fortnight of February to pass the Vote on Account

• Public Procurement Bill to check corruption

  In order to check corruption and ensure transparency in public procurement, the Government has introduced a Bill in the Lok Sabha under which a public servant can be imprisoned for up to five years for accepting bribe and vitiating the bidding process.

• Cabinet approves Public Procurement Bill that regulates purchases above Rs 50 lakh

  The Cabinet on Thursday approved a bill that seeks to regulate government purchases of above Rs 50 lakh through a transparent bidding process.

  A draft has been placed on the website of Department of Expenditure for eliciting comments from the public
