Securing another win, the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu today bagged the Pudukottai assembly seat trouncing DMDK in the by-poll boycotted by its arch rival DMK.

Voting in the by-election for the Pudukottai assembly constituency began at 8 am on Tuesday.

The stage is set for the second by-poll of the year in the state at Pudukottai on Tuesday where former friends AIADMK and DMDK will face-off, with DMK choosing to skip the contest.

Thirty one candidates have filed their nominations for the June 12 by-poll to the Pudukottai Assembly constituency which will witness a direct face-off between former allies AIAMDK and DMDK for the second consecutive time in an electoral battle this year.

The AIADMK candidate for the Pudukkottai bypoll, Karthik Thondaiman, filed his nomination on Tuesday, the Election Commission said.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa on Friday constituted a 43-member working group, which included almost the entire state cabinet, to oversee preparations for the June 12 by-election to the Pudukottai assembly seat.
