Punjab Advocate General Resigns

The Punjab government's top lawyer Advocate General Anmol Rattan Sidhu has resigned citing personal reasons, sources have said.

Following the Congress's defeat in Punjab assembly elections, the state's Advocate General Deepinder Singh Patwalia today resigned as Punjab's top government lawyer.

Two days after his appointment as Punjab's additional advocate general, senior advocate Mukesh Berry today tendered his resignation, asking the state government "not to ridicule and diminish the status of senior advocates".

Punjab Advocate General APS Deol has hit back at Congress leader Navjot Sidhu - who has demanded his resignation over his representing two accused cops in the 2015 sacrilege and police firing case.

Navjot Singh Sidhu today said he has taken back his resignation as Punjab Congress chief but lost no time in serving a new ultimatum to his party. He said he will return to his office "when a new Advocate General is appointed".
