An estimated 30-35 percent voter turnout was recorded in the municipal elections in Punjab on Sunday till 2 pm, officials said in Chandigarh. The ruling SAD-BJP combine is in power in the outgoing municipal council.

Violence marked the municipal corporation elections in Ludhiana today as one person was reportedly killed in police firing after workers from Congress clashed with their counterparts from BJP-Akali Dal. The deceased man is yet to be identified, according to the police.
