Punjab Road Naming

Congratulating the Indian men's hockey team for clinching an Olympic (bronze) medal after 41 years, Mr Singla said these players have made the country proud, and naming roads and schools after them would be a small token of appreciation.

Punjab School Education and Public Works Department Minister Vijay Inder Singla today said the state government has decided to name roads and schools after Olympic medal-winning players.

We spent a few days astride some Jawa motorcycles exploring Punjab, through some country roads, fast highways and visits to the frontier with Pakistan to spend some time with the armed forces.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari on Thursday named the highway starting from Kapurthala, connecting Gobindwal Sahib and terminating near Taran Tarana, as ''''Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Marg'''' to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.
