Centre's approval not required in court-monitored probe against civil servants: Supreme Court to CBI

The Supreme Court today held that no approval from the Centre is required by CBI to prosecute senior bureaucrats in court-monitored corruption cases, strengthening the arms of the agency to go ahead against the officials without taking prior sanction from government.

In a move aimed at preventing factionalism, AIADMK supremo and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today warned partymen against printing pictures of anyone on posters and other publicity material other than those of the late E V R Periar, C N Annadurai, party founder M G Ramachandran and the leader herself.
