On the day he became the oldest president in American history, George H.W. Bush wrote one of his final letters. For most of his 94 years, handwritten notes had been Bush's preferred method of connecting with family members, friends, colleagues and foes, whether from an aircraft carrier in the South Pacific or behind a desk in the Oval Office.
