A 30-year old woman driver of a heavy cargo truck was conferred the Tamil Nadu government's Kalpana Chawla Award for Courage and Daring Enterprise for 2015 by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in Chennai today.

RISAT-1 satellite catapults India into a select group of nations

On Thursday morning, an Indian rocket successfully launched into orbit a microwave Radar Imaging Satellite (RISAT-1) from the spaceport in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh, some 80 kilometres from Chennai. With the launch of RISAT-1, India has now joined a select group of nations having such a technology.
