On a day when over 100 people were killed in the worst rail accident in recent years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today asked railways to work towards achieving the zero accident target to make train journeys safe.

Making train journeys a pleasant experience and achieving near-zero fatalities on tracks are among a number of critical issues that will be up for discussion during the three-day Rail Vikas Shivir beginning today at Surajkund, which will open with an address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak to around 400 railway staff in person, and around 20,000 over video conferencing to firm up a road map with innovative ideas to ensure the national transporter meets the aspirations in a fast changing scenario.
