Seven people died in rain-related incidents and 265 people were rescued by relief forces as extremely heavy rainfall triggered by a depression, a remnant of Cyclone Biparjoy, battered parts of Rajasthan during the last two days, officials said.

The Army was deployed on Wednesday to rescue nearly 300 people stranded in a flood-like situation in Rajasthan's Bundi district, officials said.

Heavy rain hit parts of Rajasthan on Saturday, leading to floods in several places. Several rivers and dams are overflowing and the district authorities are on high alert. Eleven districts in the state received more than average rain, the weather office said.

With six states, including Assam and Bihar, already reeling under floods, the government on Tuesday warned of moderate floods in 12 other states as the "extreme to very heavy rainfall" over the next three days is set to sharply increase water levels of 14 rivers and their tributaries

Around 200 people have died and nearly one crore people have been affected in floods caused by heavy rain in West Bengal, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Manipur and Odisha. In Gujarat, 70 people have died since June, news agency Press Trust of India has reported. Large scale relief and rescue operations are underway in all the affected states.
