A woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan in her room in Jodhpur, police said on Saturday.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has told a court in Rajasthan that it is under pressure as it tries to figure out who killed Bhanwari Devi. The CBI did not say who is attempting to influence its investigation. Two politicians, both senior leaders with the Congress till recently, are in jail for the nurse's death.

Four months after she disappeared from near her home in Rajasthan, the remains of Bhanwari Devi have been found by CBI officials. Sources say that the nurse was burnt near Jaloda village, about 100 kms from Jodhpur. Her ashes were allegedly flung into the nearby Rajasthan Canal.

A top doctor today revealed that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had given him an application to send a team of experts for conducting a DNA test on Luni MLA Malkhan Singh Bishnoi and Gungun, the youngest daughter of Bhanwari Devi. Bhanwari Devi had alleged that Gungun was the daughter of Bishnoi.

A court here on Tuesday sent Congress legislator Malkhan Singh Bishnoi, arrested after questioning in the missing nurse case, to custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) till Dec 28. He was also suspended from the party.
