The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed, five-time MLA Rajeev Bindal as president of the Himachal Pradesh unit of the party.

The Congress claimed on Wednesday that Himachal Pradesh BJP president Rajeev Bindal's resignation showed that the corruption allegations in the Health Department were true.

Himachal Pradesh BJP chief Rajeev Bindal today resigned from his post "on the basis of moral grounds," a week after a senior state health official was arrested on corruption allegations.

Former Himachal Pradesh minister Rajeev Bindal was formally declared as the state BJP chief. The announcement was made by national BJP secretary Sunil V Deodhar at a function attended by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. Outgoing state BJP president Satpal Singh Satti and other ministers were also present.
