A court in Madurai has issued summons to filmstar Rajinikanth and others asking them to appear before it on March 8 in connection with a suit filed against his film Lingaa. The Judge said the Madras High Court had directed him to complete the trial in the case within April 30 and hence asked them to appear before his court

"Distributors who had purchased the movie on minimum guarantee have not been compensated. Hence, we want Rajinikanth sir to intervene and settle this issue within a week, failing which we will again protest in front of his house," claimed distributor Singaravelan

Shooting for the film will begin in Malaysia in August

"Ranjith's project with Rajinikanth is finalized. The film will be produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu. The rest of the cast will be finalized soon," a source revealed

A petitioner contended that Lingaa was given tax exemption only due to Rajnikanth's 'influence'

This project has been put on hold until the Lingaa issue with the distributors is resolved

"It's unethical to harass Rajinikanth sir and producer Venkatesh. This matter has to be resolved amicably," the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council said in a statement

"We will beg right outside Rajinikanth's house," a distributor said

Rajinikanth has appointed distributor Tirupur Subramaniam to settle the matter

The court stated, "In a copyright case how can the High Court pass such interim orders?"
