Malerkotla MLA Razia Sultana today resigned from the Punjab ministerial team, merely two days after being sworn into Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi's new cabinet. Her move followed Navjot Singh Sidhu's resignation as Punjab Congress President.

Twenty years after the government appointed her as a teacher on compassionate grounds following the killing of her father by unknown terrorists, Razia Sultana has been sacked by the Jammu and Kashmir administration.

In a relief to bus operators in Punjab, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Friday ordered 100 per cent waiver on Motor Vehicle Tax till December 31 for all stage carriage, mini and school buses, while deferring payment of arrears of taxes, without interest and penalty, to March 31, next year.
