Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has said it cannot be denied that some reforms have slowed down due to "pressure of coalition politics." His comments came a day after a controversy over the government's Chief Economic Advisor Kaushik Basu's remarks that economic reforms in India may continue to remain slow till 2014.

After his remarks on economic reforms in India sparked off a major political row, the government's Chief Economic Advisor Kaushik Basu told NDTV today that he was quoted out of context. Mr Basu had, earlier today, acknowledged that economic reforms may continue to remain slow till 2014.
