Rejuvenation Camp For Elephants

Rejuvenation camp for temple elephants began today at Thekkampatti on the Banks of Bhavani river near Mettupalayam, about 50 km from Coimbatore.

The stage is all set for the annual 48 day 'rejuvenation camp' for temple elephants at Thekkampatti near Mettupalayam in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore district on January 7.

Its vacation time in the wild for thirty stressed out elephants brought from temples and darghas across Tamil Nadu. The pachyderms are chilling out on the the River Bhavani twice a day which has turned into a natural spa, by the foothills of the Nilgiris.

As many as 10 elephants belonging to different temples and mutts from Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Tiruchy districts have been sent to Theppakkadu near Mudumalai for the 48-day rejuvenation camp.
