Right Wing Activist Arrested

The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested a member of a right wing group and seized huge quantity of explosives from his residence at Nallasopara in Palghar district of the state, police said today.

A "progressive" writer's face was smeared with black ink in Davanagere, allegedly by right wing activists who also warned him of "dire" consequences if he dare write against Hindu gods, said a senior police official.

Members of a right-wing group allegedly today vandalised the office of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) near Barakhamba Road in New Delhi area, following which one person was arrested.

A local court today extended by two more days the police custody of right wing Sanatan Sanstha activist, Samir Gaikwad, arrested in connection with the murder of rationalist leader Govind Pansare early this year.

Four more people have been detained over the murder of rationalist Govind Pansare, after police made the first breakthrough in case months after the incident, sources have told NDTV.
