Rio G20 Summit

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh spoke to the media on his way back from Mexico where he attended the G20 meet, after which he participated in a conference in Rio, followed by a brief stopover in South Africa.

World leaders opened a three-day summit on environment and poverty in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday to a warning from UN chief Ban Ki Moon that "time is not on our side" for fixing a mounting list of problems.

Coming as it does 20 years after the Earth Summit held in the same city in 1992, the United Nations conference on sustainable development is commonly referred to as Rio+20.
