Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor's death a day after another Bollywood great, Irrfan Khan, died of cancer drew deep condolences from people in the entertainment industry and leaders. The 67-year-old actor had also been fighting cancer. He was taken to HN Reliance Hospital in Mumbai by his family on Wednesday morning.

Rishi Kapoor said: "I was angry when I saw a bridge being named after Rajiv Gandhi. I mean it may be a way of paying respect, good that he was there but why name structures after him even now?"

Jealousy and "mental disability" have incited the Congress to attack the government for featuring actor Amitabh Bachchan prominently in an event to mark the second anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in office, said the ruling BJP.

Making light of reports that a public toilet in Allahabad has been named after him, actor Rishi Kapoor said he is thrilled to read about it as at least he will of some use to someone.

On Thursday, Rishi Kapoor thanked Twitter users who've showed "unprecedented unconditional support, love and solidarity" with the actor's thoughts against roads and buildings named after the Gandhi family members

Twitter was instantly provoked into responding. Several users agreed that roads should be renamed, many others rushed to remind Mr Kapoor that, like the Gandhis, he too belongs to a powerful dynasty
