A suicide bomber who blew himself when police raided his hotel room in Beirut was a Saudi wanted by authorities in the kingdom, an informed source in Riyadh said on Thursday.

A Saudi Arabian court on Sunday sentenced five men to death for their involvement in a suicide attack on expatriate residential compounds in Riyadh in 2003, the state news agency reported.

A series of bombings in Iraq killed eight people on Wednesday, including army recruits, at a time when the country is preparing for parliamentary elections slated to be held later this month.
