Road From Plastic Waste

In a first-ever initiative in Tripura, the state has started using non-recyclable plastic waste in the construction of roads with an aim to reduce plastic waste and make the environment plastic-free, said Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Monday.

A 500-metre long road stretch made from plastic waste will soon come up in Uttar Pradesh's Noida as a pilot project, officials said on Friday.

For every 100Kg of tar for the asphalt roads, 3-6Kg of plastic will be used in the mix.

Considering that the country generates tons of plastic waste on a daily basis, could there be a way to recycle all the discarded plastic and use it to make roads?
