A tech geek in Sirsi in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka has developed a humanoid robot named 'Shiksha' that can teach children up to class four.

Dattatray Ware, a Zilla Parishad (ZP) teacher, rose to fame after he took charge of a school at Wablewadi in Shirur tehsil of Pune district in 2012. He got the infrastructure upgraded and introduced novel teaching methods. The school began to offer even lessons in robotics and foreign languages.

Just under 60 centimetres (two feet) high, the autonomous robot named Keeko has been a hit in several kindergartens.
