Delhi government will deposit Rs 5,000 each in bank accounts of construction workers who were affected by the ban on construction activities in the city due to air pollution, said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday.

According the modified rule, KYC or Know Your Customer-complaint bank accounts will be exempted from the Rs 5,000 deposit norms.

After tightening rules for depositing old 500 and 1000-rupee notes, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on Monday evening that no questions will be asked if any amount of scrapped currency is deposited in one go but repeated deposits may raise queries.
