Government decides against moving an ordinance to amend RTI Act

The UPA government has decided against moving an ordinance to amend the Right to Information or RTI Act. It will now bring an amendment to the RTI Act in the form of a bill during the monsoon session of Parliament. The decision was taken after consultation with political parties.

This is one move that the government will find little opposition to. It is considering an ordinance to supercede this month's order of the Central Information Commission bringing political parties under the Right to Information or RTI Act.
