The pandemic is "still raging" in the country and eight states have shown a rise in the R-factor, the government said today, calling it a "significant problem".

The R-factor, which indicates the speed at which COVID-19 infection is spreading in the country, is climbing steadily with Kerala and the Northeastern states occupying top spots and fuelling worries about the pandemic rearing its head again.

With more cases of delta variant emerging in the region and a slow decline in the number of fresh cases, several states in the northeast have been forced to either announce fresh lockdown or other strictermeasures to control the situation.

Nine students from six different schools in Mumbai are building a robot for a competition that'll take them to Australia. The competition requires that the robot manoeuvres through a 12-foot maze, gather scattered objects and throw balls into tall cylinders. At stake -- a scholarship worth $13.5 million, which the team will share.
