The Gujarat High Court, in its judgement on the 2002 Godhra carnage, has upheld the conspiracy theory but said the crime of the 11 convicts whose death sentence was commuted to rigorous life imprisonment was neither terrorism nor an act of waging war against the state.

Emotions ran high as Gulzar Ahmad Wani was reunited with his family after 16 years. The 42-year-old was acquitted after spending 16 years in jail in connection with the Sabarmati Express train blasts in 2000 that claimed nine lives.

2000 Sabarmati Express Blast: Ex-Aligarh University Scholar Acquitted

Former Aligarh Muslim University scholar and suspected Hizbul Mujahideen operative Gulzar Ahmed Wani was today acquitted by a Barabanki court of the charge of orchestrating a blast in Sabarmati Express in 2000. According to the counsel for the accused, the court freed Mr Wani and co-accused Mobin due to lack of evidence.
