Fresh from his Sadbhavana fast last week in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, in another show of strength, began his 'maha rally' today. The rally, which is being held at Vastrol on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, is being billed as the Chief Minister's campaign to highlight what he calls "injustice against his government".

Narendra Modi has broken his three-day sadbhavana fast - he accepted a glass of juice with much ceremony from a lot of smiling politicians and saffron-clad priests. And announced a new mission. The Gujarat Chief Minister will now extend what he calls the success of his sadbhavana fast by spending a day in each Gujarat district, fasting.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi refused to put on a 'skull cap' offered by a Muslim cleric during his three-day 'Sadbhavana' fast here. Sayed Imam Shahi Saiyed, a cleric of a small Dargah in Pirana village on the outskirts of the city, had on Sunday, gone up to the stage to greet the Chief Minister, at Gujarat University Convention hall.

There was drama on the second day of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's sadbhavana fast. As the chief minister fasted, at least 25 people, including activist Mallika Sarabhai and Mukul Sinha, were detained in Naroda Patiya as the 2002 Gujarat riot victims were today barred from protesting against Mr Modi.
