Against the backdrop of the Shirdi Saibaba temple trust's appeal to devotees be dressed in a "civilised manner", social activist Trupti Desai has asked "why are there different yardsticks for devotees and priests".

The Saibaba Temple Trust at Shirdi in Maharashtra has put up boards appealing to devotees to be dressed in a "civilised" manner, or according to the "Indian culture", when they visit the sacred place to offer prayers.

The Sai Baba temple in Karnataka was closed due to a solar eclipse on Thursday. The devotees sang "Hanuman Chalisa" inside the temple premises before the eclipse.
