Southern Tamil Nadu and neighbouring Kerala are on high alert as cyclone Burevi inches closer to the southern shores. The cyclone - which has weakened into a deep depression - is likely to cross Ramanathapuram and adjoining districts in six hours with windspeed of 50-60 kmph, according to the weather office.

Over 19 people were killed and a few are feared trapped in debris after the bus in which they were travelling in was hit by a container that had come off a truck coming from the opposite side on a highway in Tamil Nadu's Tirupur, the police said.
