Swatting aside fears over the Zika virus, the glittering dancers of the Rio Carnival samba championship and their adoring fans were primed Sunday for their first all-night parade.

Samba school Imperio da Tijuca opened Rio's famed Carnival parade on Sunday night with an over-the-top display that included buxom dancers in bikinis and feathers, thumping drum sections and a float shaped like a giant crustacean.

Two months before Rio's famed Carnival gets under way, a samba school said it was looking for dancers "without silicone breast implants" and would offer a free costume in exchange.

Scantily clad Samba dancers and drummers have taken over the usually serene streets of the small lakeside Swiss village of Weggiss.
