A gunman was on a cocaine binge when he randomly opened fire Tuesday in a peaceful San Gabriel Valley neighborhood, killing a 77-year-old neighbor and wounding two passersby before police shot him, authorities said.

An Indian-American owner of a sandwich store here has been shot dead during a robbery, after which the authorities announced a USD 20,000 reward for the arrest of the fugitive gunman who killed the 62-year-old.

The Southern California family tells the San Gabriel Valley Tribune that drivers navigating the tricky intersection next to their house in La Puente have hit their cinderblock wall before, but early on Sunday one of them smashed right through it in his silver sedan, then sank into the pool. A crane later fished out the 2006 Lexus.
