Two middle-aged men have been arrested for placing electric fences on their land that led to the death of an elephant inside Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve (STR) here, forest officials said.

An elephant, believed to be 30 years old, got electrocuted in the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve (STR) in Erode district of Tamil Nadu on Monday, forest officials said.

A two year old leopard was killed after he was reportedly hit by a vehicle at on a highway at Asanur near the Sathyamangalam forest area in the Erode district of Tamil Nadu.

With surveillance cameras spotting a leopard in the ghat road section in Erode, the forest department has advised people to be careful and not venture into the area between 10 pm-6 am.
