Senior IPS officer Subodh Kumar Jaiswal today took charge as the new police commissioner of Mumbai. Datta Padsalgikar, whom Mr Jaiswal replaced as the top city cop, took over as the Director General of Police, Maharashtra from Satish Mathur who retired today.

Two senior UP cops in the past two days allegedly made extremely callous remarks about missing girls in separate incidents. And today, the Akhilesh Yadav government took action and both the policemen - Saharanpur's Deputy Inspector General of Police Satish Kumar Mathur and Superintendent of Police of Sant Nagar district - were transferred.

When the father of a missing teenager asked a policeman in Uttar Pradesh to help locate her, the cop shared what he would do under the same circumstances.
