"Taking It Lightly": Supreme Court Pulls Up Centre Over Tribunal Vacancies

The Haryana government was pulled up by a furious Supreme Court today, which was hearing a petition that had asked for help for farmers at a time 10 states have declared drought. The court, which had harsh words for the state and the Centre both earlier, today refused to hear Haryana's fresh affidavit in the case.

Supreme Court Asks Centre, States, Not to Insist on Aadhar Card

The Supreme Court today directed the Centre and states to stick to its earlier order and not insist on Aadhar card for granting social security benefits to citizens. The court had issued an order to that effect nearly two years ago, in September 2013.
